Homework:
1) Teach your parents the Flipp app
• Go through this worksheet with your parents to learn how to use the Flipp app!
• Activity: Make a shopping list with your parents
• Challenge: make sure at least 3 of your items have the least amount of packaging waste (based on last week’s lesson)
• Ex: buying cereal boxes in bulk instead of individual ones
2) Questions to discuss with your parents:
• Ex: Overall, do you think the environment-related things you learned from your child made you more aware of your choices/decisions?
• What were some changes that you made to be more environmentally friendly?
• Were there things you already knew? Were you surprised by any of the information? What could be something you would want to know in the future related to the environment/waste management?
• What was the most useful thing your child taught you? e.g. TOwaste app, reusable items, managing hazardous waste, shopping tips for less waste etc).
Discussion:
• Do you think baby wipes are bad for the environment? Is there something else you would recommend instead?
• What about and Campbells soup
• Pick a grocery store flyer in Flipp. How many items can you identify in a weekly flyer that are sold by the store which produce too much waste?
